The
East Canada Creek
The East Canada Creek runs through the Village of Dolgeville and was a
key
to the development of industry here during the late 1800's.

Faville
Falls Park
Location: Intersection of Peckville and
Moor Roads.
John Faville was born in Bound Brook,
NJ. In 1778 he was
given a land grant near Yankee's Bush, near Salisbury for his service
in the
Revolutionary War. After living there for 10 years, he bought
land in
the Town of Manheim at, what is know known as, Faville Falls.
He was one
of the first settlers in what would become the upper portion of the
Town of Manheim.
Homestead Site: At the bottom of the
falls, there are remnants of stone
walls that mark what appears to be his log home site along Gillett
(Ransom) Creek.
He had eight sons and four daughters. They would run down
deer in winter snows
since they had no guns. the foot bridge and pathway provide
easy access.
Grist Mill, Blacksmith Shop, & Saw Mill:
At Faville Falls parking area
you will find old foundation sites on the west side bank of Gillett
(Ransom) Creek.
Francis Asbury: Itinerant preacher and
first bishop of the Methodist church
preached in John Faville's barn in the upper field on the east side of
the creek.
The Favilles were very musical and loved to sing traditional hymns as a
family.

Revolutionary
Soldiers Burial Sites
For those few fortunate enough to return from the Battle of Oriskany
and to
survive Tory and Indian raids, they were graced with years of hard work
but
relatively peaceful existence. By the turn of the 19th.
century, the
veterans were being laid to rest in cemeteries throughout the town of
Manheim.
Those who perished in battle away from Manheim were often buried at
battle sites.

(Rheimensneider's Bush) - Yellow Church Road.
- Faville-Peck Cemetery - 0.2
miles west of Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club on
the north side of Peckville Road.
- Upper Snell's Bush Cemetery
- Dockey Road, south side, top of hill behind
Snell's Bush Church.
- Fink Cememtery - Bidleman
Road east side in a pasture, 0.2 miles north of
Route 5.
