GENERAL VILLAGE INFORMATION

GARBAGE COLLECTION
Garbage collection is every Thursday. The Village contracts with the Oneida-Herkimer County Solid Waste Authority. Garbage bags can be purchased at Zipp’s Hardware, Kinney’s, and Easy Mart. If you wish to purchase a tote for your garbage you can contact Oneida-Herkimer County Solid Waste Authority at 733-1224. Garbage and recycling guidelines are available at the Village Clerks office.

Grass & leaves must be in containers, boxes or garbage can. (No bags).
Leaves in the fall season may be in piles at the edge of road, not in the road.
Tree branches must be 4 foot or less and bundled with a 40 lb. weight limit.

Holiday Office Closings
New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day

Holidays that fall on a weekend will be observed on the following Monday.

Office closings will be at the discretion of the Board and Clerk and posted.

Vacation Hours as needed.

When possible office closing will be announced in The Times Newspaper.

Emergency Office closing will have a sign on the door

Birth/Death Records
Village Clerk has birth and death records for anyone who was born or died
in the Village of Dolgeville only

Check with the City of Little Falls for any births or deaths that occurred at Little Falls Hospital

Copies of birth and death records are available by filling out an application request
and a charge of $ 10.00 per copy payable to the Village of Dolgeville

Water/Sewer Billing
Water/Sewer Billing Cycles: February 1, May 1, August 1, November 1

Water/Sewer Payments can be made in person at Village Hall,
or after hours at Village Hall Drop Box Slots outside the front door

In person payments can be made for the first month without penalty at M & T Bank – Dolgeville Branch

Please note after the Due date there is a 10% penalty on all bills

If a penalty is imposed the amount due: example would be $162.53 on a $147.75 original bill.
A fee of Twenty five dollars ($ 25.00) will be charged for having water shut off/turned on at the user’s request.

A fee of fifty dollars ($ 50.00) is due and paid before water is turned back on after being turned off due to non-payment of rent

Please note there is a constant sewer charge as billed or $ 90.00 per quarter to all properties that are currently connected to the sewer system even if the water is shut off. This amount is charged due to the sewer use law. The only way to disconnect and remove the charge is to call the Village D.P.W. and arrange for the sewer inspector to submit appropriate paper work to remove the charge.

Liens for water/sewer rents unpaid including any turn on/turn off fees and maintenance work done by the D.P.W. will be re-levied to the village taxes effective April 30th of each year

Real Property Tax Law
If your taxes are not paid prior to August 31, 2010, a second notice will be sent to you (and your mortgagee, if applicable). To the original notice $ 2.00 will be added to the taxes on EACH parcel owed, according to Real Property Tax Law 987. If this $ 2.00 is not included with your payment, your taxes will be returned unpaid.

June – July 1st – No fee
July – 5%
August – 6%
September – 7%
October – 8%

After November 1st all taxes are payable to Herkimer County Treasurer

Village Board Meetings
Village Board Regular Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month. Regular meetings start at 6:00 p.m. Special meetings are called as needed and the Evening Times will be notified along with a posting on the Village Hall Bulletin board. Please check the bulletin board for meeting agenda. If you wish to address the village board at a meeting please contact the Village Clerk no later than the Thursday before the scheduled meeting to be placed on the agenda with the topic to be discussed. Please note there is a public participation time at every regular meeting when anyone can speak. Meetings are held at Village Hall – 41 North Main Street.

The East Canada Valley Vision meets the 4th Monday of the month at Village Hall

Dolgeville Youth Commission
The Dolgeville Youth Commission meets one Wednesday a month at Village Hall – 6:00 p.m.

Please find below a few Local Laws for the Village of Dolgeville. If you have any questions or would like a copy please submit a FOIL request to the Village Clerk. There is a nominal fee of $0.25 per page for copies.

1. Local Law # 2-2005 Removal of Ice and Snow in the Village of Dolgeville.
2. Local Law # 2-2008 Local Law Amending Local Law # 3-2005 for Snowmobile Operations in the Village of Dolgeville.
3. Local Law # 2-2004 Regulate abandoned and junked vehicles on Private Property.
4. Local Law # 2-2003 Noise Ordinance.
5. Local Law # 1-3003 Increasing the penalty for Overnight Parking Violations and all other parking violations and establishing a Local Law regulating parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant and setting fines for violations thereof.
