I lived in the divided city of Berlin, Germany from 1981 - 1989. I came to Berlin as a Military Policeman with the U.S. Army and stayed when my enlistment was finished. This exposure to a different culture in my young adult life has greatly shaped my interest in other cultures. I always take great interest in the language and customs of the places that I visit.
From November 2002 until June 2003 I had the opportunity to live and work in
the People's Republic of China. While there, I set up and started a fiber
optic assembly factory for the company I was with.
My arrival in China was filled with great fear. It would be an under statement to
say that I was only a bit afraid. However, the people at the Shenzhen Grand
Industrial Zone Management Company did their best to make me feel at ease.
I am convinced that there are no nicer people in the world than my Chinese friends
in Yanziling. Especially Maggie, Lily, Sherrill, Xue Yun, Emma, and Bill.
I miss you guys so very much.
THE WORK PLACE
My advice to anyone is, find something you like to do and figure out how you can
make a living at it. It is so important to love what you do and do what
you love.
SPORTS
As a young boy, I seldom participated in organized sports. This was
probably because I was always picked next to last for baseball games during gym
class at Stratford Central School. However, I did discover something I
have enjoyed for many years now.
Scuba diving can
be very rewarding. However, if you ever wish to learn this sport I highly
recommend you get properly trained first.
