Mission
Statement of the Dolgeville Volunteer Fire Department
 The Dolgeville Volunteer
Fire Department seeks to provide fire
protection
to the Village of Dolgeville and to territories adjacent or by call
through
mutual aid. We seek to inculcate love of country, good
citizenship, civic virtue, self sacrifice; and to perpetuate the spirit
which from the earliest days has actuated volunteer firefighters in the
rendition of service of the highest type in the protection of life and
property from fire, without hope of fee or reward. The fire
department fosters interest in all matters pretaining to the volunteer
fire service and welfare of the volunteer fire fighter. In
addition, we provide suitable quarters for the use of the members of
the organization in connection with: housing of fire apparatus, a place
for meetings, and a place for social and recreational events.
A Fireman's
Prayer
"When I am called to duty, God
Wherever flames may rage,
Give me strength to save some life
Whatever be its age
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor and
Protect his property.
And if according to my fate
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your protecting hand
My children and my wife."
